Mass Airflow Sensor- 850/s70 the same?

Post by smithy »

I need a Mass airflow sensor for my '94 850 and I found one CHEAP that claims to be for the 850 ('94-97) and the S70. Is this true? :? It looks like the same sensor but with a different housing-mine is molded into the air filter cover whereas the sensor available is a seperate piece that bolts on.
I own an S70 as well and I'm tempted to switch the sensors and check their compatibility but I don't want to damage the one from the S70 that is still good. Please help! This deal won't last forever :!:

I have a 93 850 , new to this site, have the same problem code 121.
What or where is Volvo VADIS, always looking for places to get cheaper parts than the dealer.

Thanks, Mister 93

I finally found the correct sensor for my '94- a used one. I knew the part I needed was a Bosch #0 280 217 002. After getting the same incorrect part number from just about every part supplier that I talked to (0 280 217 107) and even getting the wrong one shipped to me twice, I finally spoke with a kind soul at Suffolk auto in Connecticut who worked with me until we got the right part. If you do a search under the '93 instead of '94 it comes up correctly. We figured this out after I told him my sensor housing was molded into my air box lid instead of having a separate cylindrical housing ( :? I had told this to every bull headed parts guy I talked to to no avail). He found the same set up in a '93 that he had and pulled the sensor and it matched up. The part came, slapped her in along with some fresh spark plugs and VROOOM! Finally back to life after a long month of used part search HELL! Saved a bucket full of money, too!
