Hi all,
Recently purchased a 2001 V70 T5 (114k miles) to complement our 97 850, and, of course, the V70 has required a considerable amount of work to get it fully road-ready (I know, I know, all '01s are junk, etc., etc...). I've got it running pretty well, but in my time under the hood, I noticed that there's a hose port coming off a box next to the ECM; oddly, there's no hose attached to it. All the diagrams on Alldatadiy.com show a hose coming out of this port, but I can't seem to find any information identifying exactly WHAT this hose is, and/or what function it performs.
I've attached a picture of a 2001 V70 (found off Google image search) that has the hose intact, and I painted in a red arrow to point it out. I'm hoping that somebody will be able to help me out, and tell me what hose this is, and what function it performs. (couldn't get the image uploader to work, so I just put it on photobucket, instead). Thanks in advance!

ECM air pipe. Provides air to the computer stored in the black box. Keeps it cool "ish". If yours is damamged its worth replacing. Just plastic so even a salvage one in good shape is fine.

Great, thanks so much. Mine isn't damaged, it's just missing. Amazingly, an indy Volvo mechanic told me this morning that there was no hose attached to that port, but I had a feeling that he might have been misinformed; glad I double-checked.
Looking around at the online parts suppliers, I can't seem to find the appropriate hose anywhere. Is this the type of thing that I'll have to order from the dealer?

Maybe Erie (above) or any salvage yard. If not -you are stuck with the dealer. Several dealers discount like Nashville Volvo, Darrell Waltrip Volvo and Boston Village Volvo.

I'll cut and paste a portion of a TNN about recall 141, which may have changed the lid on the "cold box" which houses the TCM and ECM, at the same time they got a new engine cooling fan. Some vehicles got new lids based on ch#, those cars that got new lids did NOT have the hose you are expecting to be there. Put your finger in the tube where it looks like a hose should be, if you have the new lid it will be covered on the inside and there will not be an opening to the box. I just want to make sure you have checked this first, you may not even need that hose, many cars are out there that don't have it because of the recall.
I just checked in the shop and yeah, there is cars out there that have a hole, but it's blocked off, because they have been updated. Just double check yours. Here is the official vin break for cars that have the new lid.
