Hi All
I'm new here and hope someone can help! I've had a look at a 1997 V70 auto 2.5 for sale locally. There's a warning light on the dash that I didn't recognise and the hand book wasn't with the car so i couldn't tell what it was. It's on the right hand side of the dash, it's amber with a green triangle, and some sort of open triangular symbol on it - anyone know what it is?
Also, there is some water getting in the top of the rear passenger side door. The seal doesn't look quite right, but is there another common fault i should know about?
Any advice on these two points would be useful to help me decide whether to buy the car, and what I can use to bring the price down a bit!
Thanks
Richard.
What's this warning light mean?
Hi there mate, this warning light is for lambda so there is an emission issue somewhere i believe your car has 2 lambda sensors but i wouldn't buy it until it's been interogated via obd2 to find out exactly what is causing it. As far as the seal goes mine had the same issue i just refixed the seal using spray adhesive and held it in place with masking tape until it was dry. So long as there is no visible damage and it is not badly perished the seal should be ok once back in place.

If you search the database it is the same as the US Check Engine Light or CEL. It just means that the ECU is mad about something. Without the code numbers we are just guessing. It may be a big deal or it may simply be a cracked vacuum line.

Thanks for the info everyone.
The car is on ebay, I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to go back for another look before the auction ends. This is it:

You'll need to take a OBDII scanner with you. You can find a decent one for $40 over here. The OBD port is in the center armrest under a little plastic cover.
Print out the list of OBD codes and bring it with you so you'll have a general idea of what's wrong with it. This list isn't all-inclusive, so write down any others you can't match up, and come back and somebody (or google) should be able to interpret

The 'P' codes will be the ones you'll get with a scanner. If you see any transmission ones, run away and don't look back.
