Open bearing surprise

Post by whoa »

How bad is this?

I was replacing the left front axle, and as I removed the axle end from the hub, the inner wall of the bearing fell loose, so the hub-rotor assembly came free of the bearing/hub-carrier deal. I kept it clean and put it back together, and the car drives fine in a little local driving. I had thought the bearing is "sealed" and is not supposed to come apart. Is this a problem?
