Tips/Tricks for dismantling A/T shifter assembly on an '01 V

Post by bocephus »

On my recently purchased '01 V70 T5, the clip that prevents the shift knob from moving from regular automatic shifting mode to geartronic manual mode is broken. I'm trying to isolate the particular part in question, and in the process I've taken apart my center console, shifter top plate, etc. Now I'm trying to get the top plastic cover off the shifter assembly, but I can't quite seem to get it off. VADIS instructions show that there are four anchor points which have to be dislodged with a screwdriver; I'm able to dislodge points 1, 2, and 4, but anchor point #3 is a wily one, and has so far resisted my (several hours of) efforts at dislodging it.

I was hoping that someone here might have some tricks/tips for getting this piece out, as I'm concerned that if I continue with my present course, I'll just end up breaking the damn thing. I've attached a diagram of the parts in question, to help clarify where I'm at in this process.
