V70 message panel

My 2003 V70 message panel is malfunctioning. Sometimes it works fine, where you can see how many miles to an empty tank, miles per gallon, etc., but most times it's on the fritz. Words will scroll from one line to the other, or appear on the right side instead of the left, and there are other problems. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have bad contacts in there... I have an '04 V70 and so have wondered what happens if the contacts in that ring that turns around and around go bad? I guess, now I know. I have searched extensively for you...even with my copy of Volvo's software (VADIS) but have found nothing- if you could get the stalk out and the ring out, I'm thinking some electrical contact cleaner in the ring might fix it, but I see no way for that ring to come off. Looks like this might be a dealer fix only....sorry.
