Lumpy Acceleration when turning left
Lumpy Acceleration when turning left
I have a 2002 V70 5 cyl non-turbo that accelerates in a very uneven manner when turning left. Only occurs turning left ... not right. Does not happen all the time. I did some experiments to see if I could hit the specific conditions. The closest I got was turn left between 3/8 and 1/2 a turn of the wheel at about 20 MPH and accelerate moderately. Feels like differential is not driving the correct wheel all the time but had transmission serviced and no problem found. Top engine mount replaced to try to fix issue but no change. Tried with STC on and off. No change. Any suggestions?

Hello, No clicking from the CV joints. Assume consistant operation of the P/S pump. Weirdest thing a differential does is slip side-to-side in the snow. I'd check the other motor mounts, the tie rod ends and the ball joints. As always, a left to right swap of the tires on that axle can't hurt. Kira

A wheel bearing/hub assembly could be shot as well. I would start by pulling the right axle. This will give you access all the parts so you can inspect them. Check the bearings and axle/axle boots. If you drove around for a long time with a torn boot, you may have wrecked the axle. If the bearings in the hub assembly are shot, you will have some uncomfortable movement.
