2001 c70 alternator issue...I think?

Post by bood712 »

Coming home today the dash lights seemed kind of dim, and just kept getting dimmer until all the warning lights started coming up one by one and then kind of shut the car off, everything was lit up on the dash dimly but the car was still idling. The throttle would not do anything even tough the engine was running.
I stopped waited a while and the car started up, was idling real rough but I got about 5 more miles until it shut down again. A friend jump started me and we let it sit for about 5 min, started the car and it ran fine the rest of the way home.
Had the battery tested and it is fine. Does this sound like an alternator problem?
If so when changing the alternator on a 01 c70 does the mechanic have to take off the timing belt to replace the alternator?

Just trying to find out what I might be looking at in repairs here. Thanks.

Hello, The regulator is part of the alternator. Swapping the alternator doesn't involve the timing belt. Check all your conections, cables and grounds. Kira
