v40 ignition key

the ignition key for my car has fallen apart and the transponder part is missing. How do l get a new key, and has it got to be programmed?

i am having the same problem. the black plastic is crumbling around the key. right now i have black tape holding mine together. i hope we don't have to get a new key from a volvo dealer.

drogisgod, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Unfortunately for both years you are stuck with the dealer as diagnostic equipment is needed to programme the keys.

For model years 2002 - 2010 Volvo has licensed some US locksmiths to supply keys.
