Rear suspenson question

Post by jblackburn »

So, I've got a question for you guys!

When I leave my place in the morning to go to work, I cross up the road and pull a U-turn to avoid certain death in crossing a busy 4-lane road. When I swing around to full left and am about to let up on the steering wheel, I get this odd sensation from the back right tire that feels very much like the car is sliding on ice for a brief second. I'm going maybe 5-10 mph when this happens, the tire is NOT skidding, and there is no clunking or anything to suggest something broken. Just that weird slipping feeling.

I've read through the rear suspension posts and taken a look at the diagrams, but this passive steering design isn't something I'm familiar with from other cars. I've taken a look under the car and taken the wheel off, but nothing looks visibly out of shape. What am I looking for? Where am I looking for play/worn parts at?

I LOVE IT!

I had a chance to actually get it out on some twisty roads this weekend where I could really open it up without stupid people going under the speed limit - when I drop from 4th to 2nd, the turbo is IMMEDIATELY there to pull out of the curves, the turbo lag is mostly gone once I'm moving. And it pulls harder.

I haven't had any problems regarding to the delta link, but when my rear shocks were crap out it felt weird at times.

The end links where the delta links bolt to the frame tend to result in a wondering sensation on the highway and loud clunks from the rear at low speeds over even the slightest bumps. The bushings between the delta links sounds more like the problem in this case, particularly if the funny handling is more pronounced in direction than the other.

Check items 4L and 4R on this link.

Damage or failure is normally obvious when you look at them.
