i'm attempting to bleed the brakes on my 1998 s40 t4 volvo. just wandering does anyone know the exact size socket i can use to loosen them, as i dont want to shear or round off the screw with a spanner/wrench?

Try an 8mm box end wrench. I haven't done my S40 yet, but that was what the nipple looked like last time I had a rim off of it.

The box end also helps open and close while you are bleeding them.

You also might put a drop of penetrating lubricant on the threads first, they tend to rust up pretty good.

I assume the cars on the other side of the pond aren't all that different than here. Ok, there is that silly issue about the steering wheel being on the wrong side of the car :D , but bleeder valves are bleeder valves. ;)
