read codes ?

I was told to "read the codes" to find out if the O2 sensors need to be replaced. I've had my Volvo 850 for a few months, so not sure how to read the codes. Are these the lights on the dashboard that indicate if there a problem, like low on gas, headlight need replacement ??

You need to take it to the dealer, or take it to an auto parts store that reads codes, or buy the tool ($100 and up). Many times dealers and parts stores won't charge you for this.

On my 1994 850, the diagnostic modul is just beside the windshield washer funnel. For 1993 and 1994, not so sure about the years, you didn't need the code reader. If you have that module and you need some help, feel free to ask me some questions and I'll do my best to help you out.
