broke parking brake

hi all, i've got a broke parking brake and haven't had a chance yet to get under the car. in pulling the parking brake lever something snapped. the brake cable has already been replaced once at the dealership years ago, and it's time to do it again (but not at the dealer).

does anyone have experience in replacing the brake cable or a best guess as to where the weak link might be? it'd help a lot in advance, to know where to begin the R&R.

Hey, I did that!

In my case, the cable broke right smack in the middle of it.

The console will need to be removed, and both back tires will need to be removed simultaneously. Have a look at Lee's write-up for "parking brake repair" for attaching it to the wheels.

I actually did it in 2 steps - connected the cable to the brakes in the rear, and then backed my car up on ramps to feed it through to the console. Crawling under a car on jack stands scares me.
