S80 T6 Overheating

Post by RafDaddy 48 »

I have a strange occurrence on my 2002 T6 with about 80k miles. It will suddenly overheat usually after it has been run and then parked, restarted and the warning message comes up and the temp gauge is pegged. When I look at the filler bottle the coolant is boiling. First thought is a bad thermostat. The strange part is if I shut it off for a few minutes it will start again and immediately and car will return to normal operating condition and I can drive away. Is there possibly a thermostat relay or do I need to replace the thermostat? If so where are they located? Thanks

Does your fan ever kick on? There was a recall for a faulty fan module.

Boy do I feel stupid. I know that I should have checked for that but never looked when the engine is running when it was hot. I will check it out and let you know the next time that happens. I appreciate the feedback. If it had a recall would it still be covered?

Where is the fan module? Did you repalce it and did this solve the problem? My 1999 is doing something similar.
