Crack in water tank reservoir

I have a major crack in my water tank reservoir. Would that cause my check engine light to go on? Is it a costly repair/

If the coolant temperature is higher than it should be it could activate the check engine light.

The reservoir is reasonably easy to replace as it is very accessible. Two of our sponsors, MyVolvoPartsOnline and VolvoWholesaleParts.com list the reservoir. Their ads at the top of the forum are links to their sites. You need to know the chassis number as two different reservoirs were used.

I bought one from the dealership today for about $55.00. Installed it. The tempature is not going up but the check engine ligt is still on??

The fault code will have to be cleared from the memory before the light will go out.

The car is running fine today. Just clear the code and I should be allset.
