Fuel injector refurbish

Post by Volgrrr »

I have a set of five Bosch 280 150 785 fuel injectors which I intend to use as a spare set for my '95 850 T5 and to have these on on hand in the event the current ones ever need replacing.

In the meantime, while I have the time, I would like to refurbish these injectors, but recognised Volvo parts suppliers appear to stock fuel injector refurbish kits that contain upper/lower seals and spacer(s) only.

When refurbishing these fuel injectors, I would like to replace the pintel caps (because some are cracked) and the filter baskets (which I anticipate would be partially clogged) but, I cannot find these specific items anywhere.

Does anyone know where I might be able to obtain all these parts I need/want?

You could also send them out to have them refurbish. There are a lot of great companies that do just this and then you know it is being done correctly. I don't know what your back ground is but if you have not done it before, I would have a professional do the work.

Yes I realise this is the case but I would like to obtain the necessary parts so I can have a go at doing this myself - not for saving money, but just for the experience (I tend to believe the old motto "Nothing ventured - nothing gained.").

(1) An electrical engineering background.
(2) I've also read of some very disappointed people who have had some sad experiences and been literally 'taken to the cleaners' by some injector cleaning services.

It is my intention to construct an elementary, but quite functional test bench where it will be possible to monitor spray pattern, leakage, measure flow rate etc.

Anyway, why don't you give me a valid reason why a company such as FCP Groton, (a company which, after all, does pride itself on the service it gives to Volvo owners), doesn't have in the injector repair kit they advertise, all the parts necessary to completely refurbish a fuel injector instead of only just a couple of seals?
