Does anyone have the definitive webpage, thread or DIY on checking on and cleaning the PCV system?

PCV cleaning tutorial with photos, by our administrator Justin, with a fantastic addendum by senior forum member cn90.

But -- you knew this was coming -- it's for "P1" cars like 850s and 70s made before 2001. But -- you didn't know this was coming -- the Volvo 5 cylinder cuts accross model lines and is the same engine in your P2 Volvo. Minor differences in hardware and software, but mostly it's the same.

I just bought a P2 car but don't know it well enough yet to comment on just how close Justin's tutorial will match what you need to do for your car. You can do a reconnaissance "quick look" on your engine and compare to his photos to get an idea.

Whatever the case, please get back to us on if this works for your 2001 V70.

The design of the PTC and your intake manifold is going to be a slight bit different from mine, and you've also got an electronic throttle module in the way instead of a regular old throttle body like Matt and I have got.

It would be a great time to clean that.

But, aside from that, it's more or less the same. The system was overhauled to clog a little bit less in 1999, but wasn't totally redesigned until 2004 or somewhere in there.

Thanks and great info. I"ll be reviewing the system in the follow week based on your notes. I have noted my ETM has been replaced (yellow label) yet it's starting to show some signs of typical failure again (w/o throwing codes or limp mode, yet).

So maybe I'll have a look at that the ETM while I"m doing the PCV system...
