ECC had died.

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

ECC had died.

Post by Bartman1 »

I have a 2001 s80 with 185k miles on it. Just had to replace the alternator, and now notice that the electronic climate control has stopped working. Everything on the ecc module is out; blower conrols, a/c, heated seats, etc. Checked the fuses, didn't notice anything wrong. Can't see where anything connected with the alternator change could have impacted the ecc. Anyone had similar experience or have an idea as to what's going on? Appreciate anything I can get, thanks.

I had a similar experience in that my climate control stopped working after a problem with my voltage regulator. No flashing lights/etc and all the fuses checked out. I went to eBay and bought a used climate control (around 40-50). Now I have replaced the climate control and the fan/lights operational. However, the story is not over, as it doesn't start the AC compressor on it's own...I will share more when I get mine fully up and running.

As for why, I think the module is sensitive to voltage flux, but someone else may be able to better speak to that.

Hope it helps...

Bart,

To follow up on the CCM issue, I had to have the module programmed at the dealer to have it activate the compressor/etc properly. Also, you will notice that once you install the "new" one, that none of your auxiliary buttons work...the programming activates those as well. Lastly, if you find one on ebay but it doesn't have all your auxiliary options, you can swap out yours from your old control.

You may have already found this, but here are the removal instructions...see figures 1, 3, 4, 5
