How to read codes?

2007 XC 70 AWD

Is it even possible to read the codes on my car with a OBD II reader? If so how and where is the connector?

You can read the generic engine codes with a non Volvo OBDII scanner. The port is located in the driver side foot well, next to the hood release. It will be covered with a black cover labeled OBDII.

Many P2s do not have a cover, it's right there staring at you in the face, above and to the right of the hood release

Found it. It did have a cover. No codes found.
