Mechanics in New Orleans

Post by ldeegan »

I have gone through several mechanics, for all sorts of work on my 96 850turbo wagon. Right now I have compression problems. The dealership said maybe a gasket, but didnt do more tests and didn't charge me. They referred me to another mechanic, who is looking into it. Any ideas? Any good volvo guys around New Orleans?

Hi, I am looking for a good mechanic in New Orleans as well. I had a great place in Atlanta and can only find one here in a google search that has bad reviews. Have you had any luck finding one?

I spent 7 years there looking for a good mechanic...my only rec is to get work done when you're out of town, that's what I did. Good luck...

That's not VOLVO COUNTRY!
I would guess there is no one down there that is capable to do much more than an oil change

I'm new to the Volvo community, but from my own experience and the recommendations of other Volvo owners I have used DC Auto on the Northshore with some measure of success. I don't know that this shop only services Volvos, but that seems to be the majority of the business (if the number of Volvos outside the shop is any indication). The owner/operator Don is knowledgeable and will offer candid advice. I have not tried to get quotes from Bergeron for my car to compare them to Don's quotes, mostly because other people I know swear by his rates. He's in Mandeville off Hwy 59, and his shop hours can be unreliable. I know he is closed on the weekends, but doesn't mind if you get your car towed to his shop on a Saturday to wait for his inspection on Monday morning... not that I've ever done that or anything ;)
