850 Right Indicator Lens Replacement

I own a 1993 Volvo 850 GLT. I need to replace the right indicator lens. What is broken on it is simply the lens. The part I ordered in seems to be the whole piece that the fits around the bulb. I went to pull out the old piece but grew weary as I saw what looked like springs were holding it in. How will I be able to get this piece out and put in the new one. As I recall you can access the spring from inside the engine compartment with needlenose pliers.
