intermittent starting issue 2002 V70

Post by LibJicha »

My 2002 V70 has a very intermittent problem. Every month or so (or sometimes twice in a week) for the last 8 mos. when I turn the key there is nothing at all - no sound, no dash lights. At other times it runs beautifully. If the car is jumped it usually starts on the 4th or 5th try. Sometimes it starts a few minutes later without a jump. This has happened in weather below 20 degrees and above 95 degrees, the first start of the day or after having been driven. My mechanic has checked the battery, the charging system contacts at the starter, neutral safety switch operation, ignition switch operation, and the solder joints after pulling the starter relay. Because it will not refuse to start while in the shop, nothing has been diagnosed. The plan is to have it towed in next time it happens and hope it doesn't start. Any ideas?

I think it might be your ECM. Next time tap it. Or your anti theft.
