'98 S70 Oxygen Sensor Female wire connectors pulled out

Post by googs185 »

Hey guys,

I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me what the order is for the 4 wires that go into the female end where the oxygen sensor plugs into. Something happened to one of the guides and the wire came loose and got caught up in the driveshaft and it pulled the wires right out of the housing. The female end I am talking about is the part that has the red plastic piece that slides out to allow you to insert the oxygen sensor. These wires go straight back into the ECU I believe. I will post some pictures soon if you need them for further clarification. Thank you very much!

I also forget to mention the colors of the 4 wires are green/black, green/gray, green/orange, and black.

The Green/Orange and the Black wires go the the white wires on the sensor. The polarity doesn't matter since it is the heater circuit and it is purely resistive.

The Green/Gray wire ties to the Gray wire (signal ground) on the sensor and the Green/Black (+ signal wire) wire ties to the sensor black wire.

I'm not sure which direction the wires should go into the connector but the schematics show:

Pin 1 - Green/Orange
Pin 2 - Black
Pin 3 - Green/Gray
Pin 4 - Green/Black

The other sensor should have the same pinouts and it is:

Pin 1 - Green/Orange
Pin 2 - Green/Black
Pin 3 - Green/White
Pin 4 - Brown

I hope that helps,

Thanks so much!!! This is perfect! I was going to have to go to the junk yard tomorrow to look at one but I don't have to anymore. I was looking for that wiring diagram everywhere and couldn't even find it in the official Volvo diagram. Cheers!
