Need to know if a 2005 passenger dash airbag will interchange with a 2004 passenger dash airbag?
Have a 2004 XC90 T5 AWD.

On part numbers the answer is no. Up to 2004 the part number was 8686592 and this is still quoted by MyVolvoPartsOnline.com as the number for 2003 - 2004 models. 2005 models part number was 8686539 which, according to the same source, has now been superseded by part number 8623233 and covers from 2005 - 2010.

Bill, from your experience with Volvo, do the part numbers prove the airbag will not interchange? Just wondering if I should continue. I called the parts dept at Volvo and the parts guy basically said the same thing, the part numbers are different. The bags look the same. Thanks, don't have much experience with Volvo. 2005 bag goes off sale tomorrow.
