Double Whammy!

Post by evans_sa »

For all you engine saavy people out there.....

Is there anything that would cause my PCV (vent box) to be leaking oil and need to be replaced even though I just had that done 11 mth ago along with new CAM seals and timing belt?!
Thanks and Confused :?

Yeah I can think of one thing.
One of those (breather) hoses goes into the oil pan and can be 100% blocked up.
If that sludge wasn't knocked out of the hole completely, that hose replaced, (not just cleaned) and the engine and pan run through with a cleaner like kerosene (and of course the oil changed right afterwards) It will back right up, fill the breather box then the oil has nowhere to go but OUT!
Who did the job, you or a mechanic?
Were the hoses replaced or just cleaned out? (if the BB is not bad, many times I can clean most of the hoses and save $150 in parts).
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP
