air con blues

Post by time-lords »

Hi,
I am currently experiencing my air conditioner randomly switching off, the fan just goes dead. I might have it running for an hour or more when suddenly it just cuts out for no apparent reason. I then play with the switch and still nothing. After I have been stopped for 15 mins or so and start up it kicks in and might be all right for a few more hours before doing the same. I don't think it's a loose wire, just not erratic enough. I have checked the fault codes and come up with 2-3-2 which the book gives me "ventilation damper motor position sensor shorted to earth. and 3-1-3 "ventilation damper motor shorted to earth or 12 volts". what does this all mean, can I fix it myself, it seems there are five of these damper motors!! ahhhhhh help.
