You should be able to do a search for the code, both here and at Google, to spy an explination of the code. I do recall seeing a list of codes and their 'simplistic' explination, but nothing detailed towards a repair process. You should be able to find something within the repair database that Matt setup.

Check the wiring to it, but usually when you get a code for the throttle position sensor it's quit on you. It's in a high-heat area, so a pretty common failure item. It's located on the front side of the throttle body.
Here's the list of all codes, https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/volvo- ... ble-codes/
but there's no - if you get this code, then here's the fix. That's what the people here are for - many codes can be caused by a variety of different things
A search like this can usually help you if you don't know what you're looking for exactly - usually MVS or Volvospeed or some forum will turn up within the first few results.

I actually got the same code a few months ago and a new TPS fixed it.

Not that I know of. It's a potentiometer, meaning that it can give many different values based on its position, and I have no idea what the spec values are for that.
Like a crackly old stereo that has to be turned way up before it powers up the speakers, it's probably got a leaky connection now, which is causing it to throw a "voltage too low code". In both cases, it's best just to replace it.

My Platinum also has what I think is a bad TPS but it only has one dead spot - idle. It keeps freaking out both the TCU and the ECU and dumping the TPS code but if I keep the RPMs up over 1000 it doesn't trip the code by keeping the accelerator slightly on at a stop light.
My work is running me from sunrise to sundown so I don't have time to deal with it at the moment but my guess is that if I change it it will cure the problem.

I have this same code. '96 854 Turbo. My code reader is a universal one, and won't see the code, but I had the Volvo dealership read it and they had it come up. I replaced the TPS with a new bosch unit, but the CEL comes back when the engine is on for about 5 seconds. I pulled the black corrugated wire cover off the harness that leads to the TPS to see if the wires were melted or what but they look ok. I have the car's original computer in now and a 628 from an "R" car, I don't think it would matter which one is in, but my next step is to swap them and see if theres any change. I could check voltages with a DVOM but I'm not sure if that would mess up the computer. AT is a transmission code yeah? the HVAC lights started blinking too, I wonder if they're related? Lee, you're pretty knowledgeable about these things, could you recommend a place to look for a fault? Any one else have any ideas?
