Interior cleaners that won't harm vinyl

I read somewhere, I believe on this forum, that a popular vinyl cleaner used on the 850 dash would look good for a couple of days then turn harmful. Did the writer recommend using olive oil or some such? What's the best (for steering wheel, also)?

Also, someone wrote about the sensitivity of 850 wheels to common wheel cleaning products. Any safe suggestions?
Other posts on car finishes seem really helpful—I'll be exploring.
