2007 Grinding sound with acceloration problems.

My Volvo is making a grinding metal sound, with no pick up, it also sounds like something is loose in the back like a sort of metal popping sound.
I'm trying to describe it as best as possible.

Does anyone know what this may be????

Any support is greatly appreciated.
Could it be the transmission?
