source for bumper temp sensor?

Post by carboncow »

The wives v70 is now about 30F low, looks like the sensor is the the common failure point. Other then calling the dealer, does anyone know any of the common sources that list this unique sensor and the part number to help my searching?

I don't know alot about these sensors, but Vadis shows the sensor(s) to me mounted on the driver mirror and/or the passenger mirror. It shows a sensor for the l.h. mirror and the r.h. mirror. I don't know if your car has one or both. The link below has them listed under ambient air temp. sensors.

Thanks. Read someones post on that topic and they discussed those sensors and then a needed reprogram post new sensor to make it work! I got the impression these were for turning the defrost on and/or warning for sub 32F temps but found some conflicting data. Then the poster (as well as another) mention the sensor in the front bumper!

So you show no such option up there on the V70?

I didn't see anything mentioned that mounted on or near the front bumper. Although, alot of makes do have the sensor in that location. Your best bet would be to get your vin and call either the place mentioned above or the dealer. There are 2 part #'s mentioned for the l.h. mirror and 2 part #'s mentioned for the r.h. mirror. I think the correct one is dependent on climate control (or not) and your chassis #. They could also tell you whether there is one or two of these things . If you purchase one, I would try it before I took the car to the dealer for programming. Alot of these parts state they have to be programmed, but many times the swap works fine without involving the dealer, although this one may be an exception.

In the bumper sensor is for 850's and pre P2 cars, which yours is- yours is in the mirror(s) as mentioned above.
