I just bought my first Volvo. It's a '96 850 GLT wagon with 195K+ miles. The CEL had me worried to death about repair costs. The exhaust has been repaired, not very well, and it has what seems to be a classic oil leak/pcv system failure. I thought the worst of course.
What a pleasant surprise to find the CEL was caused by a $47 part, the engine coolant temp sensor in the therm housing. Easy to replace and easy on the the wallet!
Has anyone else had a similar pleasant surprise?
Check engine light made my day!
