new H7 bulb wiring harness source

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. new H7 bulb wiring harness source

Post by mrbluesky »

Ive got a 2002 S60 2.4T and am planning on installing an new HID kit. Id like to replace the old wiring harness that goes to my low beams - splice in new wiring. My first attempt failed. I bought an H7 harness from a local auto parts store - spliced it in and got no power to the bulb. I noticed that the gauge of wire on the new harness is considerably larger than the original wires. Could this be the reason it didn't work? Any ideas on a source for a couple of new harnesses?
I checked and www.superlumination.com has one but does not tell what gauge the wires are.
Thanks!

I just found racinglab.com and they have an H7 harness with 14 gauge wiring - wonder if that is the size of my original wiring?

the large gauge wire you have the easier it is to have current flow through it(to a certain degree) so stepping up by just a little bit shouldn't be a big problem, are you sure your spliced the two properly? if anything break out a multimeter and test your connections.

Ill do that, got to find where I hid mine first. Maybe I did not splice it properly. So frustrating right now driving with one low beam out! Thanks.

I am running my stock wiring with my 55w HIDs. I took the connector that the wires plugged into and punched out the connectors and then just plugged the new HID wiring to the old wire connector and electrical taped it. I did this as it fits in the area behind the bulb much easier than with the stock prown plug.
