S60 engine bay detailing question

Ive been reading online about car detailing lately and there are some really good web sites on this topic.
My question is - Can I clean my engine bay using a power washer? Would it hurt my alternator/electrical system? Or is that something not to be concerned about.

I wouldn't take that chance. All it would take is for the wrong connector to get water inside of it and then you will be calling a wrecker.
