04 V70 brake question

Post by buddyjim »

Hello,
I'm gong to replace the pads & rotors on all 4 wheels of my wife's 04 V70 2.4. Do I need a special tool to compress the brake piston on the rear brake calipers?

Thanks much!

You can use a pair of large channel-lock pliers to compress the piston, however, if you have a "Brake Pad and Caliper Service Tool Kit" that will make job a bit easier.

I use 2 pieces of wood one a wedge shape, channel lock mars the caliper and not professional..imho, remove the master cyl. cap. (if you are replacing the rotor you can wedge it to the piston / rotor side.)

I always use a C-clap to do this. Works every time.
