Hello all,
Thanks for all of the great info here - working to replace a hvac blower and repair some radio lights thanks to the info.
I have another problem with our 2000 V70; 150K or so. The little dome light (on the headliner at the top of the door) at the right rear passenger position is operating very strangely. Whenever that little switch is turned to the "on" position as in for use of the reading light; all of the interior dome lights turn on together. Plus we also seem to have some trouble where when entering the car - from the front passenger door - the dome lights do not light up when opened. I've tried all the settings on the overhead console etc.
Could it be that the door lock assemblies of the front doors could cause this? I ask since we have delayed replacing those assemblies and they are now in a position where (especially when hot) that they do not unlock remotely. Or is there something else wrong with the overhead reading light connections or the rear passenger door setting? Thanks, Tom.

The switches in those little reading lamps do break. I find them annoying because the lights do not turn off when the car is off and locked, letting the battery drain.
I would pull down the main light assenbly and check the wires for worn spots. You could have a ground problem.

Okay, I have it resolved. Your comment about a bad ground connection got me thinking - alot like the troubles i usually have with the trailers. I pulled the culprit housing out and futzed with it a bit, cleaned the bulb and connections and it would flicker. Got it all put back together - it was a bad ground that was running hot. So all fixed up.
Also replaced the led bulb for the radio lcd display tonight too - pretty productive.
