98 V70 AWD non turbo doesn't start

Post by volvoalley »

I have a 1998 V70 AWD Non turbo. Vehicle runs fine for weeks then suddenly it cranks over but won't start, come back hours later and it starts and runs fine.
My OBDII code reader brings up PO340 PO102 PO335
Generic MAF or VAF A Circuit Malfunction
Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit Malfunction
Camshaft Position Sensor A - Blank 1 Circuit Malfunction

I changed the camshaft sensor but no luck. Anyone have any ideas where to start?

The first thing I would do would be to clear all the codes and see which ones come back. That will tell you where to go from here because some of the codes may have been from a different time.

Sounds like a groups of items with the same sort of problem but they do not share the same power supply but are common to the ECM.
I'd flip over the handle on the ECM and pull it out and inspect for corrosion in base plug and on ECM pins, clean as needed and spray the base plug with WD-40 or other light spray oil and reinsert and see if the trouble returns.
98 Motronic 4.4 will run without MAF but it will not start w/o CMP or CKP sensors.
