Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 S80 T6- COld air intake

Post by neworleans »

Hello everyone,

I am planning to install a cold air intake to my S80.
Has anybody installed one?
Any recommendations?
Any place to buy?

Thank you...

The car already has cold air intake. The hose from air cleaner box that runs over the top or radiator is connected to a duct that gets air from just behind grille. If that duct is missing then replace it. If the oblong piece that runs forward over rad is not there for the air cleaner duct to attach to then put it back.
The other thing is that on a turbo car a cold air intake does not matter unless it is replacing a very restrictive air filter that gets its air from a hot location. The air goes through the turbocharger and gets heated. Then it passes through the intercooler to cool it down again before going into intake.
A cool air intake with air cleaner can reduce restrictions in airflow but your volvo has a large air filter and is a very good one that has probably nothing to gain from being replaced.

On 2-nd pic I tried to show you the duct from the grille but ... only the grille is visible on the picture. Whith ot without flash - it's the same. sorry.
As seen in my signature the car is S80 2.9 200hp '00y. B6294S (Non turbo).
Good luck

yuckuJackD if you want to take the second photo just focus on something that is the same distance away as the object you want to take a picture of by pressing the button half way and keeping it pressed half way. What I mean is point the camera away from the grill to something else the correct distance you want the focus to be (can be the ground or whatever) Then while still pressing it half way point it toward the inside of the grill and click. This also works when taking photos out windows or other parts in the engine compartment that are hard to see.

In other words you are focusing on the grill (when the button is half way pressed) therefore you are taking a picture of that.

hard to explain.
