Transmission problem 95 850 turbo

Post by hartmannjoho »

Hi all.
A little background first: I bought a 95 850 turbo A/T with 75k miles about a month ago. About two weeks ago I drove for about 800 miles and everything (in my transmission) worked fine for the first 600 miles. After that, the arrow turned on in all gears every time I had to stop for whatever reason (toll booth, etc.). I stopped and checked transmission oil level and it looked OK (level was OK, color was red with slightly black, smell OK), then I realized that by switching the car off and then on again, the arrow turned off and I could drive without issues until my next stop, where I had to turn it off and on again to keep on going. The problem disappeared after a while so I paid no attention to it.
Now today, I was backing up to park and felt a slight bump. After that, every time I have to backup, the transmission "slipps" when I accelerate in reverse, just like a manual transmission clutch slipps when it is worn out. All the other gears worked fine, so I immediately drove back home and checked level (it was OK) and scanned the transmission but I got no codes, any ideas?? Is it bad?? How can I fix it??

Thankss!!

try a drain and fill on the tranny, then do it again in 2 wks
other prob sounds like bad PNP switch, search this and see if you want to try fixing it yourself

Probably not but it should be looked at first
I had the exact same thing on a car I bought, (of course having prior knowledge of the problem).
It needed a new (used) transmssion
