While looking around for a replacement muffler assembly, I came across one with a resonator.
My understanding is a resonator quiets the volume and vibration, which is very appealing to me. Also, it looks like it would be easier to install if the muffler assembly then comes in two parts.
However, could I potentially make the noise worse since my V70 is not a turbo? Should I consider purchasing the normal assembly, cutting the exhaust pipe and then clamping on an aftermarket resonator?
Thanks for your insight (and the wonderful forums!)

From my understanding and from the results of a similar post just last week, the standard exhaust can be fitted without cutting, but some suspension components on the left side will need to be unbolted and dropped out of the way to gain those valuable inches you need.
As far as the resonator making a NA (naturally aspirated) car quieter this will probably be the case, but no-one on the forum has had this experience so difficult to guage. Assuming the muffler in the turbo exhaust is identical with the NA version it would stand to reason that a extra resonator will quieten it down even further.
The question to answer is whether the turbo system is balanced by use of less baffles in the muffler while adding a resonator.
Only the manufacturer can answer this question.
Oh by the way you posted in the wrong forum, this is V70 2001-2010.
