I have 50k miles on my 2001 Volvo, just past warranty. Engine light goes on, mechanic diagnoses low coolant level and refills. Battery dead a couple days later (no warning light went on) so replace. Car then starts shuddering intermittently at very low speed and engine light goes on again. Mechanic diagnoses potential spark-plug problem, so replaces those and recommends using fuel-injector. Car still shuddering, though not as much.
I was wondering if the shuddering could be caused by the new battery? I've had intermittent problems with the computer system malfunctioning ever since I've bought the car. Could it be something else that the light is not going off for??

Even though i have a diesel s40 from passed experience (working on other car's that i have had), i have found that one of the high tension leads from the distributer to the spark plug was faulty. That could be the problem.
If you know somebody who has a volvo, ask them if they could swap the leads with yours (do it one lead at a time so the leads don't get mixed up) to see if that eliminates the probem. Hope this helps.
