Hot Buns (Seat Heater Woes)

Post by rp850 »

Anybody ever have their seat heaters stay on even though the switch is off? I was warm here today (80s) but I could swear the seat heater was on even though the switch was off. I was roasting!

Can I pull the fuse or the seat connector as a test to see if my buns cool down? Summer is coming and I've got to do something!!!

Thanks!

Volvo has a recall on the seat heaters to install a thermostat. meantime they can be unplugged under the seat.

Thanks Jot. I'll look into that. I thought to disconnect it but there's a bunch of connectors under the seat. Afraid I'd set off the SIPS bag or something. Is there an easy way to tell which connector it is?

Jot,

I looked on the NHTSA website and the recall you describe is only for the 1996 model year. I have a 1995. Have you heard of anyone with this problem on a 95? I doubt the dealer will even look at it if it's not covered under the recall but I'll give it a shot.

Thanks,

There is a round opening in the foam, about 1.5 inches across, in the centre of where your bum rests. There are two wires going into this opening, and if you crane your neck and press the foam down , you might just be able to see the connector.

By the way, I'm pretty sure the heated seats recall was expanded to all years. I have a 97 and got a letter for it so you might just want to call the dealer and ask.

Thanks! I'll ask about the recall.
