bouncing dashboard, c70 convertible

i own a 99 c70 convertible. it seems that the clips which hold the dashboard in place, have snapped, possibly from driving on bumpy roads. now, whenever i hit a slight bump in road, the dashboard makes a clapping sound. dealers do not want to cover repair because of expense.they say i need a new dashboard ($2500) plus labor. i purchased a certified volvo, with a supposed "volvo" extended certified warranty. dealers still tell me that the warranty company won't cover because the dashboard is considered "trim" and "trim" isn't covered by extended warrany. i cannot drive the car in this condition. extended warrany is up in june 05. any suggestions other than class action suit against volvo? long process.
