CEL its missing again

Post by pdorestan01 »

I have a 1998 c70 coupe and I changed the spark plug wires ,wires distributor and rotor cap ran fine for 2wks then started missing again, when I first did the tune up I found moisture and water in the cap, could there be moisture in the cap again is there a seal there that could have gone bad? it runs fine now but sometimes it misses again .

What brand did you use for parts?

Bosch for distributor & rotor cap,Bougicord for wires and oem Volvo spark plugs or just cheap Bosch spark plugs but gapped correctly are the ONLY way to go.

Is your car turbo or non-turbo?

Volvo spark plugs are different for those two engines and it's clearly written on the spark plugs pack.

Is it a misfire on multiple cylinders or just one?

It may be the beginnings of a camshaft or crankshaft position sensor going bad. Check to be sure that your camshaft sensor wire is as far as possible from the distributor feed wire. It is the sensor located just to the rear of that one, also with a fat black insulated wire.
