but I'm in a unique situation. The outside boot on the drivers side is gone. There is no noise coming from the joint and it still looks well packed in grease. Is there a doorman product or another brand that will fit. The applications for the ones I've found online do not list my car.
I am getting rid of the car in about a month and do not want to put any more money into it. I only drive about 1000 miles a month all low speed city. I just want to get by.

Almost any auto parts store will have split CV boots, I would go in and ask them what they have.
I wouldn't use it for my car but for what you are doing, temporary fix, split boot seems fine.

Go ahead and use one, especially if joint is still good, I can't see doing all the labor of uninstalling the axle to just put a boot on. I just replace the whole thing!!!! If you don't need to do that then use a split boot, especially if your planning on keeping.

I got the split CV boot on. We will see how it does.
One thing I'm sure of is that I will never do it again. For $50 more I could have replaced the whole axle and likely been done in a few hours. Since this is my first front wheel drive I was concerned about being able to do the work.
Between the waiting for the glue to dry and trying to clean up every thing, I wouldn't replace just a boot either. Sometimes you just have to find out for yourself.

However, those cheap axles are usually garbage. The original axle is 100x better.

This kind of negates the whole need for a forum, doesn't it??
There are plenty of write-ups on CV work, though I do hear the driver's side (short one) can be a pain. I just changed the boot on the long side and it wasn't too bad.
Anyway, can you tell me what a split CV boot is? It sounds messy, fiddly and ready to split back open.

I never used them and I think for the effort your better taking it out and doing it yourself.
The article from raxles seems valid.
