1998 v70 wagon stuck in first gear
I have a 1998 Volvo V70 AUTO GLT TURBO Wagon. This afternoon I was driving about 42 mph, when it suddenly shifted down to first gear and wouldn't move out of it. The trans fluid level is adequate. We got this car used in December, and it's our first Volvo. Any idea what I'm looking at as far as what needs repairing and how much it might cost?

You're in the wrong forum this is the 2001-2007 forum
As to your problem, this one's a toughie and doesn't sound too good/
This is not your typical tranny failure, it sounds like your TCV may have fried or an internal shift solonoid went bad.
Neither is cheap to fix but I'm guessing here.
Possible PNP swith failure but again, not a typical result
