My brother got a 2005 S40 T5 GT.
A couple of days ago he called me up and said he heard a "new" noise coming from the engine.
I asked him to let the car sit until further inspection. Next day i went over.
Upon starting the car no noise. Took it for a 5min drive and sure enough, an internal wosh hollow sound.
Parked the car and with bonnet open there was no sure way of defining where the noise came from. On account of numerous PCV issue threads i pulled the dipstick. Noise immediately went away, put my finger over the hole and there was quite the vakuum. When re-inserting the dipstick the sound came back albeit with a 2sec delay.
Any sure diagnosis for this?
Could it be anything other than the PCV?
Local Volvo shop claims its got nothing to do with PCV and offer no other solution.
PS the car is BSR stage II and got the BSR cai installed, dunno if it affect anything with regard to this though...
