Folks,
My 2005 T6 surges during hard acceleration. It's not really a miss or anything like that, but the power output seems to cycle as if I'm lifting my foot slightly and then flooring it about every 1/2 second or so. The car comes off warranty in a couple of weeks and I'd like to get whatever this is fixed before the end of the warranty period. I have scheduled a service visit with the dealer for next week. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing these symptoms?
Cheers,
Steve

The common problem is the turbocharger control valve sticking. This item regulates turbo boost and thus engine power. When it is sticking the boost pressure surges up and down and that gives surging acceleration.
The part is easy to change and is available several places.

Jimmy57,
You were correct. It was the turbo control valve. Thanks

Only one, the line to the turbo from the valve connects to a hard line that T's off to each turbo. The hard line is by the transmission fill/check tube. Just replaced mine with the IPD HD unit. Be sure to replace the lines to as they are probably leaking as well. The hardest ones to get to connect the hard line to the actual turbos, as there is only about two inches of tube between the line and turbos. Also they are not in the easiest space to get to.

Is this the part I need?

That looks right, the only thing you need to know is that they do not have a bracket to mount it for the 1999 S80 T6. I used the bracket that came with and am using the temp solution of using a zip tie to keep the bracket from sliding out of the ear where the original unit clips in place. It shouldn't take too much effort to mount it but just be aware that a zip tie will hold it for a while. Also IDP has some videos on turbos I think under turbos 101 and 102 that will help you with all the aspects of the turbo system in case you need some adjustment of the waste-gates. I haven't looked at mine as of yet but will probably look at it sometime in the near future.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your help...Took the air cleaner out today and had a GOOD look around..followed the lines etc and found 1 rubber tube had fallen off under the inlet manifold and another off the solenoid??? Put them back on with some new clamps and it is back to going like the day I brought it!!! I forgot what the whistle of those turbos sounded like...Now I know why I love this car. Thanks GregEldoninoz wrote:That looks right, the only thing you need to know is that they do not have a bracket to mount it for the 1999 S80 T6.
