Keyless Entry Problem

2002 S60 2.4T, 86,000 miles
Only the driver side front door lock doesn't lock/unlock when using the key-less entry fob. Lock does work when manually keying. However, the driver side door DOES work key-lessly once every fifty fob hits or so. Two days ago the passenger side front door lock has started behaving in the same manner. My research tells me that the most likely fix is a new actuator. Fine with me, but now that a second door has become stricken I fear investing in a double actuator replacement only to find that the real problem lay somewhere else. Any trouble shooting ideas? Thanks

the actuators tend to get weak with age. If the door glass has been replaced they can sometimes be damaged during the process.
