Car Apps

Post by jblackburn »

I recently bought the "Gas Hog" app to help keep track of how much I spend on gas/what gas mileage I get on a consistent basis. I've only been using it for a week or two, but I think it's pretty cool.

You keep track of your odometer readings, fuel costs, and gallons put in, and it calculates your MPG for you. It's quick and easy to input right after filling up.

I believe it's written for those of you that have Android phones too.

Have any of you found any other cool "must have" apps for your smartphone? Taptatalk, as there was a discussion about earlier, is an absolute must-have if you're a regular on the forum here. I'm on a computer all day doing stuff at work; when I get home, I don't even want to go near mine

I use and love Gas Cubby. It also has provisions for entering service work and reminders for service intervals. It let's you track multiple vehicles and has charts and data exporting. You can pay for it, or use the Free-from-Fram version.

They also make Trip Cubby which allows you to track trips - good for people who report mileage and stuff for work.

Ooh, I like that one even better!

The service work thing is a definite plus - I'm forever forgetting when I change things/need to have tires rotated, etc.

I thought you might since you do so much of your own repair. I've been really happy/impressed with it.
