1995 850 Volvo RECALL

Hey out there,
Just posting this for you 850 owners from 1995. I received a recall notice the other day for my 1995 850 turbo. Apparently there is a heat shield for the gas tank that is in need of changing out, after all these years. They can foul & maybe cause a fire. This is a free recall item.

If you haven't gotten a notice, maybe give a local dealer a call & see if your VIN# is on the list. My car is sadly going to the crusher after we get all the parts off it. It died due to the coolant hoses going, overheating, cracked block.

Thanks for the info! Is it only for the Turbo model or all the 850 of that year 1995? What would the dealer do for us if we bring the car in? Thanks!

AFAIK all the models, since the gas tanks, heat shields etc--are all the same & interchangeable. *Don't hold me to that, tho.

I believe the dealership would replace the part, free of charge. On another forum a guy a few years ago got a free gas tank replaced since his gas tank was cracked & it was covered under the warranty/recall. Sounds pretty decent to me. I've had one other recall done on my old Saab 9000 & they did everything for me. I paid nothing. They even gave me a new convertible to take off in for the day.
